Student Sign On Day
Sign on Day for all NEW students for 2013 will be held on Sunday 27th January 2013 10am to 12pm at the Mount Isa Dance Studio on Isa Street. Existing students are welcome to come down and collect your new timetable. Classes commence on Saturday 2nd February 2013. See you there … please note there are limited places available for all classes.

ST JOSEPH’S FETE
Junior & Senior performance groups will be performing at the St Joseph’s Fete next Friday 2nd November at 7.30pm. Performance group members must attend rehearsal at the AWU hall Sunday 28th October 12.00 – 12.45pm to be involved. We would also like to encourage the rest of the Mount Isa School of dance to come along next Friday to support out students – see you there!

Wednesday 10th October
2012 CONCERT REHEARSALS
FULL RUN THROUGH – Saturday 27th October starting at 12.00noon
All students participating in the concert are required to attend the first full run through.
Kinder Ballet students will be dancing first and may leave as soon as their dance is complete. Parents please wait outside the hall.
The following students will be finished at 1:30pm:
- Pre-Primary and Primary Ballet
- Beginner and Junior Jazz
- Beginner and Junior Tap
- Beginner Funk
All other students may be collected at 2:30pm.
Parents interested in assisting with props and other jobs associated with the running of the concert, please advise one of the committee members on Saturday during the rehearsal. 2012 Concert Rehearsal Note

QUEENSLAND BALLET WORKSHOPS
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Queensland Ballet Workshops – it was a fantastic experience for all! We are also very thankful to Queensland Ballet for coming to Mount Isa to perform “Cloudland” at the Civic Centre. It was stunning and once again a fantastic opportunity for our students!

Congratulations to all of our fantastic students involved in the Backstage Pass workshop!! You worked really hard and it showed, what a show! Thanks to all of the behind the scene helpers for keeping our students well fed too – greatly appreciated!!

All students are welcome to attend the Winter Ballet Vacation School commencing Friday 29th June. Please click on the link below to see the timetable. Whether doing an exam or not this is a fantastic opportunity to get some extra lessons over the holidays with some amazing R.A.D. mentors!! Fees are very reasonable and can be paid when you arrive… it’s not too late!! See you all at the hall.

Wednesday 13th June
** NEW!!! Musical Theatre class for 2012 – sign up on Saturday morning 9-9:30am!!
Ages 7 + Learn to sing, dance and act with the fabulous Miss Lara.
Beginning term 3, times as below:
- Junior Class (7-12yrs) 10:45-11:30am Saturdays
- Senior Class (13 yrs +) 6:30-7:30pm Fridays
Limited places available … Please note: These classes are available for currently enrolled students only. Students in this class WILL NOT be performing an item in the concert.
Wednesday 6th June
Very exciting news – both the Mount Isa School of Dance Junior Performance Group and Senior Performance Group will be performing at the Mount Isa Show on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd June. Please see your teacher for more information regarding extra rehearsals and requirements for the performance.

A big congratulations to all of the Mount Isa School of Dance students who competed at the Mount Isa Eisteddfod over the weekend. Monday 23rd April
The Mount Isa Eisteddfod is fast approaching and due to the many dance entries this year, the Eisteddfod committee have advised they will begin the dance section on Friday 18th May at 1.00pm and will continue on Saturday & Sunday. Programs are not available yet but Michelle from the Eisteddfod committee will be down at the hall on Saturday 11th May 8.00am – 10.00am to sell season tickets and programs. This is a great idea as it saves time on the day. Please take advantage of this great opportunity to purchase your tickets early. DANCENORTH CONTEMPORARY DANCE COMPANY: Dancenorth is one of Australia’s leading contemporary dance-theatre companies who experiment with all art forms to create immersive and dynamic dance experiences for audiences locally, nationally and internationally. Located in Townsville, Dancenorth is testament that international quality dance can be produced in a regional setting by balancing a strong presence with a commitment to making art that tours the globe.
Recently, Dancenorth visited Mount Isa and a number of our students were involved in workshops, observation of company rehearsals and performances. Below is an example of what our dancers achieved as part of this exciting opportunity!
